Can I still get a loan with Provident Loans?

No, it’s no longer possible to get a loan with Provident Loans, although there are a number of alternative credit brokers and lenders that you might want to consider, including CashLady.

Who were Provident Loans?

Provident Loans traded for 141 years as a lender offering short-term, doorstep loans.

A doorstep loan was when an agent visited the customer’s home to complete the application, deliver the money, and, later, collect repayments. Doorstep loans usually came with higher interest rates than those offered by high street banks and mainstream lenders.

What happened to Provident Loans?

Provident Loans stopped offering loans and ceased trading in December 2021.

I had a loan from Provident Loans – can I make a claim for irresponsible lending?

Any Provident Loans customers wishing to make a claim for irresponsible lending were given a deadline of February 28, 2022. As this date has now passed, you will no longer be able to make a claim.

Who can search for a loan with CashLady?

All credit scores are welcome to search for a loan with CashLady, and doing so will not affect your credit score*. Some of the lenders that CashLady work with specialise in loans for those less-than-perfect credit scores, as well as those who have no credit history at all.

*Please be aware that if you are matched with a loan, you will be redirected to the lender’s website where you will be required to undergo some further checks, including a hard credit search. Hard searches may remain on your credit file for up to 12 months, and too many hard searches over a short period of time could have a negative effect on your credit score.

Can you tell me more about searching for a loan with CashLady?

  • We’ll run a soft search and check our panel of lenders for a suitable loan. This stage should take less than 60 seconds.
  • If we’ve found you a match, you will be redirected to the lender’s website, where you can find out more about the loan. If you wish to proceed, you’ll be required to undergo some further checks, including a hard search.
  • If the lender is happy with the outcome of their additional checks, you’ll be sent a loan agreement. Be sure to read through this carefully before deciding whether to sign and return it.

How quickly will I receive the money?

Some lenders on the CashLady panel can send your money on the same day your application is approved, although it’s worth noting that the time it takes for the money to appear in your account will depend on your bank’s policies and procedures.

If you’ve taken out a loan that you’re struggling to repay, you should contact your lender as soon as you can. Remember – they are not there to judge you or your circumstances, and will appreciate the fact that you’ve reached out and let them know of the situation that you’re currently in. They will want to work with you to set a plan moving forwards.
