What is car finance?
When buying a vehicle using car finance, you’ll spread the cost, rather than pay the full amount upfront.
Typically, you’ll repay the money you borrow in instalments, which will include interest.
Will car finance impact my credit score?
Yes. As a credit product, car finance will affect your credit score.
Whether the impact is positive or negative will depend on how you manage your borrowing.
Your credit provider will report your repayment activity to the credit reference agencies (CRAs).
If you make your repayments in full and on time, you could see an improvement in your credit score over time. On the other hand, a late or missed repayment could cause your credit score to decline.
It’s also worth noting that when you apply for car finance, the provider will complete a creditworthiness assessment, which will include a hard search or an Open Banking check. Please remember that multiple hard searches within a short space of time could damage your credit score.
How does Zuto work?
- Fill out Zuto’s online form.
- You’ll get a provisional decision in just 60 seconds. One of the Zuto team will then contact you to discuss your options. Please note that your provisional decision does not guarantee acceptance.
- Pick your new car! If your application has been approved, you can browse thousands of cars through Zuto’s network of verified dealers.
- Zuto will run a free vehicle and history check on any car you’re interested in.
- Found your dream car? You can go ahead and complete the paperwork and collect the car, leaving Zuto to arrange the payment with the dealer.
How much money could I borrow?
The amount of money you could be approved to borrow will depend on your individual circumstances. You should never borrow more than you need or can afford to repay.
Car finance: what sort of repayment terms are available?
The repayment terms available to you will depend on the car finance provider you apply with, and the amount of money you’re approved to borrow.
What Representative Annual Percentage Rate (APR) does Zuto advertise?
Zuto advertises the following representative example on their website:
“Zuto is a credit broker, not a lender. Our rates start from 8.9%, representative APR 18.5%. The rate you are offered will depend on your individual circumstances. Borrowing £8,000 over 60 months with a representative APR of 18.5% the amount payable would be £199 a month, with a total cost of credit of £3,954 and a total amount payable of £11,954.”
